Thor: Love and Thunder Merch Introduces New Movie Logo
Thor: Love and Thunder has a new logo, and aside from recognizing the film’s title, it might have other meaning for Thor and Jane Foster.
The next Thor: Love and Thunder has a proper new logo – and it’s heartbreaking.
Jim Velasco, Marvel Studios Post-Production Coordinator tweeted an image of a black baseball cap featuring the new Monday logo, a simple pattern of a lightning bolt appearing to pass through a heart. The image recognizes both the love and the thunder to which the film’s title alludes. The back of the crew cap bears the film’s title logo.
“I like Thor: Love and Thunder crew hat because the design on the front is very reminiscent of the original Owen Hart heel logo, ”Velasco said in his tweet. The late Hart was a Canadian professional wrestler, known for a similar badge he wore with a heart-piercing lightning bolt.
Thor: Love and Thunder reportedly featured Thor’s unique love interest, Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman in the movies, reprising the role of God of Thunder. In the years 2017 Thor: Ragnarok, who did not feature the character of Portman, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor revealed that he and Jane are no longer in love. Along with the love and thunder motif, the new logo could also recognize Thor’s potentially broken heart.
Jane Foster temporarily became the new God of Thunder starting in 2013 during writer Jason Aaron’s run on Marvel’s Thor: God of Thunder. During Aaron’s stint, Thor simply became known as Odinson while Jane became the bearer of Thor’s hammer Mjolnir – all while battling cancer in its deadly form.
Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif, Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax, Karen Gillan as Nebula and Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher. The film arrives in theaters on May 6, 2022.
