Samrat Prithviraj’s Day 3 Box Office Occupation: The film sees virtually no growth on Day 3; is expected to collect Rs. 13.25 cr. Sunday: Bollywood box office
The Chandraprakash Dwivedi made a historical drama Samrat Prithviraj with Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chhillar hitting screens Friday. After much hype and massive promotions, the film which was made with a budget of over Rs. 200 cr. reaches a total of 3750 screens in three languages. However, contrary to expectations, the film which also features Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood, started on a lower than expected note with only Rs. 10.70 cr. arrive on day 1. Following this, on the second day, the affairs of Samrat Prithviraj witnessed a rather minimal increase of only 17%, managing to attract an additional Rs. 12.60 cr.
Now, at day 3, reports suggest that Samrat Prithviraj which faced an uphill battle at the box office continued to flounder. With little to no momentum in multiplex-dominated sectors, the historical drama is heading into troubled waters. According to commercial forecasts, the film should see a growth of just 8-10% on the third day compared to the second. With key circuits like Mumbai, Delhi, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Bangalore and others not contributing as usual, the overall film business has taken a serious hit. On the other hand, territories like Rajasthan, CP and CI have seen a decent series of collections, however, the activity of these single-screen dominated sectors is not really enough considering the massive budget of the film .
Speaking of budgets, Samrat Prithviraj which was done with a budget of more than Rs. 200 crores still has a long way to go before it can be called a profitable venture. Unfortunately, as things stand, the chances of Samrat Prithviraj coming in at Rs. 100 cr. remain dark.
