Neumann University Holds Graduate Info Session – Delco Times

ASTON – Neumann University will host an in-person information session on its graduate and graduation programs from 5-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, in the Rocco Abessinio building.

Two new master’s degrees, slated to launch this fall, are the MS in Cyber ​​Security and the MS in Forensic Psychology.

The MS in Cyber ​​Security is offered online and can be completed in two years or less. Students develop their skills using real-world hacking lab scenarios and simulations, guided by Dr. Thomas Dodds, Neumann’s program director, who previously worked for Microsoft.

The MS in Forensic Psychology is designed for individuals currently working in law enforcement, corrections, social services, or psychology who wish to develop skills in psychological and intelligence analysis in the criminal and civil justice systems.

The event will include breakout sessions with program directors for each graduate degree and graduation program offered by Neumann, as well as information on the application process and financial aid. A hot buffet dinner will be available for future students.

“Neumann is known for its flexible and affordable degree programs,” says Bettsy McKlaine, Director of Adult and Graduate Admissions. “Our information sessions provide adults with a supportive environment to learn about degrees that will help them achieve their career goals. »

Neumann offers doctoral and master’s degrees as well as bachelor’s degree programs. Many of these degrees have been ranked by University Guides as some of the best in the country and can be completed online in 12-18 months.

Doctoral programs are available in educational leadership and physical therapy. Master’s options include accounting, with a focus on forensics and fraud detection, athletic training, business and organizational leadership, clinical laboratory sciences, clinical mental health counseling, cybersecurity, education, forensic psychology, nursing and sports affairs.

The online bachelor’s degree programs are the BS in Business and Organizational Studies and the BS in Public Safety Administration.
Neumann will accept up to 90 transfer credits into these bachelor’s degree programs, including credits for military and work experience. Registration for the info session is required at http://www.neumann.edu/infosession.

DCCC offers summer camps for children

Children’s summer camps at Delaware County Community College will begin Monday, June 27 and continue through Thursday, August 4. All camps will be Pennsylvania and United States Centers for Disease Control compliant.
Safety and prevention instructions will take place from Monday to Thursday because during the summer months the college is closed on Fridays.

This year, unemployed Delaware County residents can claim up to $1,000 in summer camp expense credits for a child so caregivers can better focus on finding a job or back to work. Earlier this year, the Delaware County Board approved the Delco Strong Summer Camp Solution program, which can help reduce the barriers faced by caregivers who struggle to find work — a situation made more difficult by the summer school closures and the difficulty of finding childcare. New babysitters will also learn about safe toys, how to care for and feed infants and toddlers, diaper changing techniques, and how to prevent accidents and handle emergencies.

For summer coding camps, kids ages 8-14 explore coding, led by top teachers and industry talent. Children get a personal education experience using the latest software from the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology, Microsoft, Apple and more. The camps are run in coordination with Black Rocket, a national leader in technology education with more than 200 locations worldwide that offer cutting-edge courses in coding, game design, application

Zabel is hosting a family resource fair and outdoor movie night on Saturday

State Representative Mike Zabel, D-163 of Upper Darby, is hosting his free Family Resource Fair and Outdoor Movie Night on Saturday, June 4, to provide residents with information about valuable services and programs. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and continue until 10:00 p.m. at the Clifton Heights Athletic Field, 217 N. Springfield Road, Clifton Heights.

Zabel staff and local organizations will be on hand to share information on CHIP, food insecurity relief, WIC, early intervention, heating and energy relief, rental, internet safety, affordable child care, mental health, bullying prevention and much more.

“We are once again proud to host this family event, and we encourage families to socialize with neighbors and friends and to bring blankets and chairs to watch a screening of the Disney Pixar movie Luca, which is due to begin 8:15 p.m.,” Zabel said.

In case of bad weather, the rain date for the event will be Saturday June 18th. Sponsors for this year’s event are Clifton PAL, PECO, Delaware County Foundation and Independence Blue Cross.

Community invited to Newtown budget presentations

Newtown invites the community to attend and participate in one of two upcoming budget presentations, at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7. Presentations are offered at two different times for the convenience of township residents and business owners. They are free, will last approximately one hour and will take place at the Newtown Township Building, 209 Bishop Hollow Road, Newtown Square.

Speakers for the program are Newtown Township Chief Financial Officer Richard Lafiata and Township Manager Stephen Nease. Presentations will provide residents and business owners with a clear understanding of the township’s strategic plan and budgets. Topics to be discussed include review of the strategic plan, past and current budgets, followed by public comment for the 2023 budget.
