Don’t make shitty movies and complain about the boycott trend: Ranvir Shorey | Bollywood
Ranvir Shorey’s new film Midday Meeal is a social drama released on October 14th. In a new interview, the actor opened up about the boycott trend and “anger” towards Bollywood on social media. Ranvir Shorey also spoke about what really affects a movie’s box office collection and said people shouldn’t complain about a “boycott” if their movie itself is bad, adding that they should actually be “ashamed” of their film. Recently, films like Aamir Khan’s star Laal Singh Chaddha have failed at the box office, with a section of people saying the film didn’t perform following the boycott calls it faced in because of Aamir’s old statements. A section of online users also said that the film, which starred Kareena Kapoor, failed as audiences rejected its content. Several other recent Hindi films, such as Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan, have also failed at the box office. Despite big stars and huge budgets, Raksha Bandhan’s first week collection was around ₹37.50 crore, while Laal Singh Chaddha won ₹49 crores in seven days at the domestic box office.
Now, reacting to recent movies that haven’t done well at the box office, Ranvir told ETimes, “What affects a movie’s business is whether it’s a good movie or from a bad movie. So if you want a good box office, make good movies. Don’t make shitty movies and don’t complain that a boycott destroyed your movie. Nope! You just made an as*** movie. And even though it was made with ₹100, ₹200 or ₹300 crore is still a *** movie you should be ashamed of.
In the same interview, Ranvir further addressed the recent social media boycott trend against certain movies and celebrities. “I think people think there’s something unfair going on in the film industry. But it’s all happening behind the curtains; they don’t know exactly what it is. What we’re seeing is the anger that reacts to this injustice,” Ranvir said.
Ranvir will soon be seen in Tiger 3, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. The film should be released next year. The action drama is directed by Maneesh Sharma and also stars Emraan Hashmi.
